HSK 3.0 Officially Launches Worldwide on 13 December 2026
Chinese Testing International (CTI) has confirmed that HSK 3.0 will be officially administered worldwide for the first time on 13 December 2026.
The announcement was published on CTI’s official WeChat account, 汉考国际CTI, on 8 September 2026. This December exam marks the official launch of the new HSK system. From January 2027, HSK 3.0 will become the standard version of the HSK examination worldwide.
If you are planning to take the HSK at the end of 2026 or during 2027, it is time to make sure you are preparing with materials based on the new standards.

The first official worldwide HSK 3.0 examination will take place on:
According to CTI’s announcement, both paper-based and internet-based testing will be available. Candidates should check the Chinese Test Service website to find out which test centres in their country are offering the exam.

Internet-based test
11:59 pm on 3 December 2026
All deadlines are based on Beijing time.
Candidates can register through the Chinese Test Service website. Use the website to search for a participating test centre in your country and complete your registration online.

What happens from January 2027?
The December examination begins the official rollout of HSK 3.0. From January 2027, the new system will become the standard HSK examination worldwide, replacing the current version.
Learners preparing for an HSK exam in 2027 should therefore follow the HSK 3.0 standards. Previous HSK textbooks, vocabulary lists and practice papers may not fully reflect the content or requirements of the new examination.
Individual exam dates and availability may still vary by country and test centre, so candidates should always confirm the local arrangements before registering.
What is changing with HSK 3.0?
HSK 3.0 is a significant update to the Chinese Proficiency Test. It is designed to assess a broader and more practical range of Chinese-language skills.
Depending on the level, candidates can expect changes to:
vocabulary and character requirements
grammar points and language tasks
question types and test structure
listening, reading and writing expectations
speaking requirements for the relevant levels
Although some level names remain familiar, the content and difficulty do not always correspond directly to the previous HSK. Using preparation materials created for HSK 3.0 will therefore be important.
How can you prepare for HSK 3.0?
The best place to start is with learning and practice resources that already follow the new HSK standards.
Learn the new content with HSK GO
The learning content in HSK GO is based on HSK 3.0.
Learners can study the vocabulary, characters, grammar and language skills required under the new system instead of relying on materials created for the previous exam.
HSK GO is available on iOS and Android, with structured New HSK learning content for Levels 1 to 3. Learners can also take the HSK 1 and HSK 2 tests online directly in the HSK GO app and earn HSK certification after passing.

Practise with HSK Mock
HSK Mock is the official HSK mock test platform and already offers HSK 3.0 mock tests for New HSK Levels 1 to 6.
The mock tests allow learners to practise with the new question types, test structure and online interface before exam day.
After completing a New HSK mock test, learners can also access a new AI detailed Score Report covering:
performance and score breakdown
grammar, topic and task diagnosis
words and characters to review next
recommended next steps for study
This helps you understand not only your current score, but also what you need to study next.

Start preparing for HSK 3.0
The official launch date is now confirmed, and the transition is close.
If you plan to take the HSK on 13 December 2026 or at any point in 2027, check that your study materials follow the new HSK 3.0 standards.
Use HSK GO to learn the updated content, then take an HSK 3.0 mock test on HSK Mock to check your level, become familiar with the new exam and identify what to improve before test day.
